Soldier Yegor Petrov was killed on September 13, 2023, near the town of Opytne in Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he sustained fatal injuries as a result of enemy artillery shelling. Yegor was 24 years old.

Yegor was born in the village of Novoyehorivka in Kharkiv region. He studied at the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University of Kharkiv, but left his studies and joined the military in 2018 for compulsory military service. In 2020, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was always interested in military affairs and devoted much of his time to studying history. He loved reading, fishing, and traveling across Ukraine.

During the full-scale war, Yegor defended his homeland as part of the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh. He served as a driver-radio operator. Alongside his comrades, he fought in Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Donetsk regions, participating in battles for the cities of Bakhmut and Vuhledar. He was wounded in action but returned to duty immediately after treatment.

“Yegor was a true patriot of his country. He was very brave and responsible. A very good person who never refused to help. He was a loyal friend,” shared his fiancée Kamila.

The young defender was laid to rest in the city of Merefa in Kharkiv region.

Yegor is survived by his grandmother, sister, and beloved girlfriend.
