Senior soldier Volodymyr Trush, call sign Sirius, was killed on October 30, 2023, near the village of Bohdanivka in Donetsk region. While performing his duties, he suffered fatal mine-blast injuries due to enemy shelling. The following month, on November 20, the fighter would have turned 43.

Volodymyr Valeriyovych was born in Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan. He lived in Hadiach, Poltava region, from childhood. He studied at a local school and later graduated from Hadiach Vocational Technical School No. 47, where he obtained a profession as a cook. Later on, he acquired another profession and worked as a firefighter for 20 years. He was very passionate about sports and interested in healthy eating.

In April 2022, he was called up for military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 120th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion (Military Unit A4051) as a scout-operator.

In February 2023, Volodymyr was seriously wounded in combat but managed to save his comrade besides himself. For this act, he was awarded the “Golden Cross” medal by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After rehabilitation, he returned to the front line.

“I am very proud of my husband because he is a true Hero. He never hid behind others’ backs, never abandoned his friends in need. He was kind, fair, and strong in spirit. He loved his family very much and took care of us. We miss him very much, his support, advice, and kind words,” shared Liliya Trush.

The warrior was laid to rest in Hadiach, Poltava region.

At home, Volodymyr’s mother, wife, and son were waiting for him.
