Soldier Vladyslav Shein, call sign Typhoon, died on November 8, 2022, while performing a combat mission near the village of Novoselivske in Luhansk Oblast. Ukrainian defenders held the flank when the occupiers launched an attack, breaking through the defense line. When the enemy conducted tank shelling, Vladyslav was at the forefront. He saved the lives of four comrades but sustained fatal injuries himself.

Vladyslav was born and raised in Dnipro. He was a student at Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University in Kharkiv. He also completed military training. In his hometown, he was a well-known athlete, practicing judo since the age of 6 and winning numerous awards in championships of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and nationwide tournaments.

Since the start of the full-scale war on March 3, 2022, on his 21st and final birthday, Vladyslav volunteered to join the front lines. He joined the ranks of the 128th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He served as a rifleman in the 233rd Separate Battalion. Initially, their battalion served in Lozova in Kharkiv Oblast and later on the Zaporizhzhia front.

“Vlad was intelligent, cheerful, the best in everything, and a good student. He came back from the front for a day in the summer, passed his exams, and enrolled in a master’s program, dreaming of becoming a prosecutor. He had a girlfriend, Sofia, to whom he was engaged, and they dreamed of a wedding… Vlad was a very strong, brave person with a good heart and a great sense of humor, confident, ready for any challenges, with big plans and ambitions. He always moved forward. It’s a great loss for everyone who knew him,” said Vlad’s father, Vladyslav Volodymyrovych.

The defender was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, 3rd Class.

Vladyslav was buried in the village of Slobodzhanke in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

On December 1, 2023, a memorial plaque was ceremoniously unveiled at Gymnasium No. 29 in Dnipro, where he studied, in memory of the Hero.

Vladyslav is survived by his parents, brother, fiancee, loving family, friends, and comrades.
