47-year-old Junior Sergeant Ivan Koltsun died on November 29, 2022, near the village of Yakovlivka in Donetsk region. While performing his duties at his position, he came under enemy artillery shelling. He died from shrapnel wounds to the heart, saving the lives of his comrades.

Ivan Yaroslavovych was born in Lviv. He lived in the village of Velyki Hrybovychi in Lviv region. He graduated from a rural school. In 1992, he obtained a shoemaker’s profession at Lviv Vocational School. From 1993 to 1995, he served in the military. He worked as a laborer. Before the invasion, he worked as a loader at “Sankom” company. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening. He was very passionate about this activity.

On June 8, 2022, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ivan served in the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo. He held the position of deputy commander of a combat vehicle as a navigator-operator. He fought in Luhansk, Kherson, and Donetsk regions. He was a participant in the Kherson Counteroffensive and battles for the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk region.

“During our 19 years of married life, my husband and I raised wonderful daughters and, through hard work, built a home. My husband was a very loving, sensitive person with a heightened sense of justice. He loved people, his homeland, and us beyond life itself. He was a very hardworking, caring, loving father and husband who took care of me, despite my serious illness, for many years,” said the deceased’s wife.

Ivan was buried in the village of Velyki Hrybovychi in Lviv region.

He is survived by his wife Maria and three daughters: Anastasia, Katerina, and Natalia.
