Soldier Vitaliy Borylo, call sign Koval, lost his life on September 14, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Pryutne in the Zaporizhzhia region. The defender was 40 years old.

Vitaliy Yuriyovych was born in Kyiv and later settled in Zaporizhzhia. He worked in furniture making for some time and, before the invasion, was employed at an oil refinery. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with friends.

As the full-scale Russian invasion began, Vitaliy took up arms and went to the front, determined to protect his home and loved ones. He fought as part of the 112th Separate Brigade of Territorial Defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a rifleman in the rifle platoon of the rifle company. According to his comrades, Vitaliy always eagerly joined the fight, never faltering; he could be relied upon in anything.

“Always a smile and always everything good. A person with a big heart and soul,” they noted.

“Vitaliy was a true hero, ready to give his life for peace and freedom. A great companion, a loyal brother, a loving husband. Sincere, open, and kind-hearted. Always came to the aid of friends. Lived by conscience. Never left a job half done, had big plans for the future that never came to fruition… A loving husband, a support and a pillar… My heart… Infinitely love, my angel always by my side,” wrote Natalia, the wife of the fallen.

The warrior was laid to rest at the city cemetery in Zaporizhzhia.

Vitaliy is survived by his wife, children, brother, friends, and comrades.
