28-year-old scout Yuriy Kryvoblotskyy, call sign Karas, died on September 6, 2022, near the village of Sukhyi Stavok in Kherson Oblast. While carrying out a combat mission, he suffered fatal shrapnel wounds due to enemy shelling.
Yuriy was born in the town of Kompaniivka in Kirovohrad Oblast. He studied at Kompaniivka Primary and Secondary School and then graduated from Kompaniivka Vocational College of Veterinary Medicine at BNAU. He worked in his field at the agricultural cooperative “Kolos”. He loved nature and animals.
From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Yuriy joined the defense of his homeland by enlisting in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Koshovy Otaman Kostya Hordiienko. He was a senior scout in the reconnaissance unit of the infantry battalion.
“Yura lost his mother at a young age. He lacked a mother’s care and many things that his peers had. He always sought solace in our family. Living near his grandmother, he was her best helper and sole support. I will never forget his beautiful brown eyes, through which he often sought kind words and advice from me. He warmly responded to the love shown to him. A friendly, obedient boy, he was a good son, nephew, and grandson. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he defended our homeland. Yurko, being a true soldier, a caring son, a devoted brother, and the best nephew, called home every evening. However, the conversations were brief. ‘Everything is fine, don’t worry, there might not be communication,’ he always said,” said the aunt of the deceased, Liliya Horlova.
The defender was buried in his hometown.
Yuriy is survived by his father, aunt, sister, and two daughters.
