Artilleryman Serhiy Porokhnytsky died on November 28, 2022, while performing a combat mission in the area of the city of Druzhkivka in Donetsk region. He was forever 22 years old.
Serhiy was from the city of Vinnytsia. He completed 7 grades at the local lyceum No. 20, and then studied at the Prykarpattia Military Sports Lyceum. In 2017, he enrolled in the Vinnytsia Higher Vocational School of the Department of Police Protection. He later worked abroad. In 2020, when he returned home, he married his beloved Nadia.
During the full-scale war, Serhiy joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and set out to defend his country. During his service, he became passionate about the military and decided that he wanted to dedicate his life to the military profession. He served under contract in the 44th Separate Artillery Brigade named after Hetman Danilo Apostol.
“Serhiy loved life, always thought about the future, promised to return with victory. He was the soul of the company, a reliable comrade. He always knew how to listen and support. Serhiy was and remains a Hero of Ukraine for his loved ones. In his eyes were courage, bravery, determination, and confidence. He always rushed into battle first, but at the same time kept a cool head. A true Hero, he had a good, bright, and open soul and a strong character. With his family, he was gentle, caring, sensitive, loved children. He was a wonderful brother, caring son, and loving husband. He is alive for us. We still await him and love him very much. Serhiyko – my angel, who will always be by my side,” – said the sister of the fallen Yulia.
The serviceman was buried in the village of Vinnytskyi Khutory in Vinnytsia region.
At home, Serhiy was awaited by his parents, sisters, wife, aunt, brother, grandparents, and a large family.
