Soldier Miroslav Bondarchuk was killed on January 11, 2023, as a result of enemy aviation bombardment in the area of Chasiv Yar city in Donetsk region. The defender was 48 years old.
Miroslav was born and lived in the city of Kyiv. He graduated from School No. 123, as well as a music school specializing in the cornet class. He then entered Kyiv Technical College No. 18. After completing his studies, he served his compulsory military service in Pereyaslav. He was a creative and talented person: he could draw beautifully, write poems, and play musical instruments. At one time, he worked at the Kyiv workshop of “Ukrrestavratsiya”, where he directly participated in the restoration of such historical sites as: St. Sophia Cathedral (including the gates), Golden Gate, Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Pyrohoshcha, located in Podil in Kyiv, and the Odessa Opera and Ballet Theater. His passion was construction and restoration; he could do absolutely everything: make furniture, repair appliances, sew clothes and shoes. He had a great sense of humor, was an optimist, and always smiled. In 2014-2015, he volunteered at the hospital for war veterans in Pushcha-Vodytsia.
During the full-scale Russian invasion, he joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He fought as part of the 4th separate tank brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky. He held the position of driver-electrician in the repair workshop of communication means.
“In the early days of the full-scale war, he voluntarily went to defend his Homeland. He dreamed that his child would live in a free and flourishing Ukraine. He loved his little daughter above all, who was born in 2010. The loss of her father became a great sorrow and trial for her, as they had a very close bond. The daughter still has a screensaver on her phone – a photo from one of the last conversations with her dad, which lasted for an hour. A great loss for the whole family, with which we are learning to live. We believe that he is now our guardian angel and continues his struggle in another world. Forever in our hearts and memories, forever with us,” shared the late Aliona’s former wife.
The defender was buried in the village of Kalynivka, Kyiv region.
Miroslav is survived by his mother, brother, daughter, relatives, close friends, and comrades-in-arms.
