55-year-old Sergeant Hennadiy Tyamchyk, nicknamed “Dіd” (“Grandfather”), passed away on November 15, 2022, at the Kharkiv Hospital. While performing his duties in Novoselivske village in Luhansk Oblast, the soldier sustained severe injuries due to enemy shelling.

Hennadiy Vasylovych was born and lived in Vasylivka village, Sumy Oblast. He graduated from a vocational-technical school in Vorozhba city and obtained a profession as a tractor driver. He worked at the State Enterprise “Research Farm “Pravdinske”. He was passionate about hunting and fishing.

During the full-scale war, in April 2022, Hennadiy was called up to serve in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He served in the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the regimental hetman Ivan Sirko. He was a mechanic-driver in the tank platoon of the tank company. Together with his comrades, he defended the Kharkiv and Luhansk regions.

Posthumously, the defender was awarded the Order of Courage, 3rd Class, and the Medal “For the Defense of the Motherland”.

“My dad is an example of patriotism, resilience, courage, and perseverance. ‘Who if not me,’ he said from day one and went to defend the borders. Always positive. He loved his country and loved living,” shared the daughter of the deceased.

Hennadiy was buried at the Alley of Glory in Ohtyrka city, Sumy Oblast.

He is survived by his wife Valentyna, daughter Kateryna, other relatives, friends, and comrades.
