Soldier Anatoliy Pivtorak, call sign Cancer, was killed on July 12, 2023, in a battle with occupiers near Klishchiivka village, Bakhmutskyi district of Donetsk region. The warrior’s life was cut short by enemy artillery shelling. He was 52 years old.

Anatoliy Dmytrovych was born and lived his entire life in Kryvi Kolina village, Cherkasy region. After school, he graduated from Uman Vocational Lyceum No. 9, where he mastered the profession of an electrician. Then he served in the border troops during his conscript military service. In civilian life, he worked as a miller and a construction worker, and for 12 years, he was an electrician at Kryvi Kolina Hydroelectric Power Station. His last place of work was LLC “Hydroresource-K.”

In the early days of the full-scale war, Anatoliy’s son received a draft notice, so Anatoliy himself decided to join the military. On February 27, 2022, he joined the local Territorial Defense Unit. He served in the 159th Separate Battalion (Military Unit A7325) of the 118th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a shooter.

“He was a good person. He loved life, cherished his family, and lived for his grandchildren. We miss him very much,” said the deceased’s daughter Alina.

Posthumously, the Hero was awarded the Order “For Courage” III degree.

The defender was buried in his native village.

Anatoliy is survived by his mother Maria Andriivna, wife Nadiya, daughters Alina and Maria, son Serhiy, and seven grandchildren.
