27-year-old Junior Sergeant Alexander Karabanov was killed on March 27, 2022, in a battle with occupiers near the village of Kamyanka in the Izyum district of Kharkiv region. Until October 2023, he was considered missing in action until DNA analysis confirmed his death.
Alexander was born in the village of Hayshyn in Kyiv region. He graduated from the Pereyaslav Center of Vocational Education and mastered the profession of a chef. In his free time, he loved playing football. In 2016, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and defended Ukraine in the ATO/OOS (Anti-Terrorist Operation/Operation of Joint Forces) zone. He had received awards and commendations.
At the time of the full-scale Russian invasion, he served as a combat medic in the platoon of the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade. From the first days, he continued to fulfill his duties and repel the occupiers along with his comrades.
“Sasha will always remain our true Hero,” noted his sister Svitlana.
“He has forever remained a real warrior for us, a man of his word. He could always come to help and did even more than was required,” added his comrades.
On November 29, 2023, the paratrooper was buried in his native village.
Alexander is survived by his parents, sisters, brother, wife, son born in 2021, other relatives, friends, and comrades.
